Adirondack
The Adirondack collective is a new concept destination in Lake George, NY, that centers around production and consumption – of food, art and bourbon. Combining a deli/grocery that features prepared food from the region, a gallery and artists residency program, and a bourbon distillery, the project is designed as a triangular building set into a hillside to give each of the three programs its own space around a shared courtyard at the center. The peaks and valleys of the roofs create distinct silhouettes for each face of the triangle while accommodating the different internal ceiling heights required for each program. The roofs also facilitate water collection, and with its reclaimed wood cladding, low-impact construction and an aggressive agenda for sustainable operation of the distillery, the building creates a new model for sustainable rural development.
