Lee Angel Showroom & Offices
An office space for a jewelry design company simultaneously resolves practical and aesthetic problems through a single architectural gesture. Lee Angel wanted to be able demonstrate to its commercial clients the company’s breadth, without revealing the mess of its work spaces. They also struggled to organize the thousands of varieties of beads used in their jewelry.
The design addresses both issues with a dramatic promenade, leading clients from the reception area to a showroom at the other side of the offices. One wall is lined with backlit shelves holding the company’s bead supply in glass jars, effectively joining the realms of production and presentation.
The ribbon of the shelves continues around the showroom as burlap-covered displays, with reconfigurable roll-out trays. In contrast to the colorful bead wall, the room’s simplicity – white surfaces and burlap, with bronze mesh panels hung from the ceiling – focuses attention on the jewelry.
