Wyckoff Residence
A new triplex created by combining three radically different footprints on top of each other, this apartment carves light and space from the middle garden level and distributes it up to the upper floor and down to the bedroom basement. The central stairway, clad in perforated steel, turns and twists as it moves up through the space – strategically orienting the three very different levels and creating new visual connections.
The main living level is completely liberated and open, with a unique linear kitchen clad in rare blue pine running along one wall. The rear wall of the apartment exposes a brick wall from the building’s industrial past and now supports a custom fireplace set on a granite platform, which also provides access to the garden. Bathrooms are meticulously detailed with Italian tile and custom vanities. The below-ground bedroom-boudoir is centered on an arched opening of storage around the bed.
The furniture, fixtures, color palettes and wallpaper were selected in close collaboration with the client, whose long experience working in fashion lends the entire apartment an air of European chic.
