Creative Time Offices

The East Village offices in the new 4th Street Arts District for the public arts group Creative Time feature a number of enclosed and differentiated workspaces while maintaining the compact office’s flexibility, openness, and access to sunlight.

Along one side, cantilevered cubicles face the main hallway and are surrounded by stepped privacy panels in a gradient of grays. Above each is a “cone of silence” – an acoustic separator made from gray felt and outfitted with a halo of light. On the other side, a series of red glass panels contain the entrance, service spaces and the larger offices. The panels, which slide along a continuous track, flexibly accommodate a range of different scenarios.
